The European Shippers' Council (ESC) is a non-profit organization established in 1963 that represents the freight transport interests of around 100,000 cargo-owning companies across Europe. These companies include manufacturers, retailers, wholesalers, importers, and exporters, collectively known as "shippers." ESC advocates for a level playing field for shippers through policy work and collaboration with national shippers' associations and European commodity trade associations. ESC focuses on various transport modes, engaging in policy advocacy on issues such as capacity shortages, sustainability, and digital transport initiatives. It participates in EU initiatives like the Digital Transport and Logistics Forum and addresses challenges in road and maritime transport. One of its key programs, Green Freight Europe, benchmarks CO2e emissions and promotes sustainable practices among its members. ESC's leadership includes a Board of Directors and various policy managers dedicated to enhancing the freight transport landscape in Europe.
