Pot, bedding and perennials are cultivated in the IJzelenberg Plants' nurseries. The nursery is a family business and in 1957 by Chr. IJzelenberg sen. started and now by the sons A.J. and K.G. IJzelenberg run and now also the third generation is active in the company namely A.H. the Rich and Chr. IJzelenberg jun. The nurseries are located at the Lange Kruisweg in Maasdijk and are located at 4 locations. The longest existing locations are located at Lange Kruisweg 61 and 68 and now, after many expansions, are 4.5 hectares. The nursery at the Lange Kruisweg 5 is 2 hectares. In 2015 a new location of 1,5ha was purchased which is located at the Lange Kruisweg 26. The total area of the nurseries now has 8 ha. This 8 hectares consists of approximately 5.5 hectares of greenhouse and 2.5 hectares of lava coinage fields. Perennials are grown on these coinage fields. The greenhouse departments are equipped with ebb and flow concrete floors. Each department has a screen installation to be able to use energy efficiently. The products are brought to clients and various auctions 6 days a week with their own truck. IJzelenberg Plants, in combination with a number of products, has previously entered the market with its own Dutch production, as well as cooperations with foreign growers who cultivate potted plants for IJzelenberg abroad. Currently we work together with 2 growers in Portugal and 1 grower in Spain. IJzelenberg Plants is a participant in M.P.S., the Milieu Programma Sierteelt. In that context, we have been working for years with biological diseases and pest control. We are certified with MPS A.
