Runic Games, Inc. was an American video game development studio based in Seattle, founded in 2008 by industry veterans Travis Baldree, Max Schaefer, Erich Schaefer, and Peter Hu. The studio emerged after the closure of Flagship Studios, where the founders had previously worked on the game *Mythos*. Runic Games was known for its collaborative approach and developed several popular titles during its operation, including *Torchlight* (2009), *Torchlight II* (2012), *Torchlight Complete* (2013), and *Hob* (2017). In 2010, Perfect World Entertainment acquired a majority stake in Runic Games. The studio maintained partnerships with various industry players, such as Valve Corporation and Epic Games, enhancing its development capabilities. Runic Games ceased operations on November 3, 2017, but its legacy continues through its games and the community services that remained active after its closure.
